‘DiaSpoRia’ is a song written and performed by Alya Isha and Insula that follows the challenges and oppression that east Asian and ingenious people face. It is a letter of love, compassion and representation of all those faced with oppression and lack of self expression.

When Alya first discussed the concept and story behind her song, I knew it would be something powerful. The visual representations of masks, unknown/untamed lands, and overgrowth, are only a few ways to describe the representation presented in this music video. Coupled with Alya's gentle and whispery vocals, the concept of reclaiming one's land and identity is brought out almost immediately. It suggests that strength does not need to be loud - only present - and it is up to the beholder on how they intend to vocalise that strength.
A beautiful marriage from the warmth of a strong orange light shrouded in mist, and the eruption of green connotes a rebirth of some sort, the start of something new. It was a pleasure to work on the creation of the backdrop. From the large trees to the vines intertwined between each leaf and branch. Thank you to the team for creating such a fantastic outcome.
